This is it. The day when [Name] finally returns to her friends and family in Japan.
[Name] shoved through the crowd, trying to get to baggage claim where she would meet her mother, Yuki, who she hasn't seen in two years. After finally reaching the end of the crowd, she searched for a particular face amongst the sea of people waiting for their baggage.
"[Name]!" she heard someone yell.
Said girl turned, greeted with the sight of dark blue hair. Her mother hugged her so hard, [Name] thought her insides would pop out any moment. Nonetheless, she returned the bone crushing hug. Yuki pulled back and smiled at her daughter, a stray tear slipping out of her eye. "You've grown so much! You're as beautiful as ever, [Name]." her mother complimented, making [Name] blush. She gave her mother one more quick hug before going to get her bags.
Afterwards, when [Name] had finally collected her bags, they sped down the busy highway towards home. [Name] smiled. She couldn't wait to see all of her old friends and attend her new school. Her mother snapped her out of her daze, stating that there was a surprise waiting for her at home. [Name], suddenly interested, pestered her mother to give her a hint as to what it is, but to no avail.
"Can't you at least give me a hint?" [Name] whined at her mother, who, smirking deviously, shook her head no. [Name] groaned and looked out the window again, until her mother spoke up.
"You know, sweetheart, Makoto and the others have been asking constantly about your arrival these past two weeks. I suppose they're very excited to see you." she said, calmly looking at her pouting daughter.
[Name] suddenly sat up and crossed her arms. "As they should be! They haven't contacted me the past month!" she stated angrily. Her gaze saddened when she thought of the boy she loved, who hadn't contacted her in two months. She was beginning to worry about him.
Yuki saw her daughter's unhappy expression and immediately knew who she was thinking of. She sighed inwardly. "Anyhow, Makoto mentioned to me that he and a few of your friends had started a swimming club, and you're welcome to join. He was going on about how..."
[Name] stopped listening after she heard the word swimming. She immediately envisioned herself gliding through the water, reaching forward and propelling her way forwards. She could hear the crowd cheering. Almost there-
"[Name] [Surname]! Were you even listening? You started staring off into space after I mentioned Makoto and his friends!" her mother complained. [Name] shook her head and brushed it off as being tired.
About fifteen minutes later, they arrived in the small driveway of [Name]'s old home. She smiled widely at the small building, memories flooding back in a wave.
Yuki saw her daughter smiling dreamily at her old home. She sighed and shook her shoulder lightly. [Name]'s head snapped in her direction. Yuki smiled. "Ready to see your surprise?"
[Name] jumped out of her seat and opened the car door hurriedly. She pulled her mother along with her towards the front door, eager to see what the surprise is. Her mother giggled and turned the key to open the door. As it creaked open, [Name] sensed nothing out of the ordinary. She shot her mother a questioning look before stepping inside.
Even after examining the area, nothing seemed to be waiting for her. She turned to her mother again. "You liar. There's no-"
"SURPRISE!" several voices shouted behind [Name], making her jolt. She turned her head to see a few of her friends, along with others she didn't recognize. One face stood out amongst the others, however. The black haired boy with brilliant oceanic eyes looking at her with such emotion and longing.
